In “Look Down, Not Up – Tiny Street Art”, I focused on a minuscule detail of Chris Reddy`s work. I admit this was a bit misleading, as his art is far from small. This mural spans the length of a large building in downtown Tromsø. On his website, he explains that he likes to paintContinue reading “Look Up! – Chris Reddy Street Art”
Just two weeks ago, Winter was on its way. Sixteen days later, a blanket of snow has covered the land. And just like that, a peaceful winter landscape revealed itself.
I have walked through this narrow passageway countless times, and I have to admit that I have never stopped to study this gigantic graffiti wall, created by Chris Reddy. But thanks to my quest to study the street art of Tromsø, I discovered a delightful surprise hidden in the middle of walkway. I want toContinue reading “Look Down, Not Up – Tiny Street Art”
I love this piece by artist, Martin Whatson. Martin, born in 1984, grew up in Olso, Norway, and is one of the country’s leading street artists. It´s odd, actually, as I’ve lived on the island of Magerøya, Norway´s 11th largest island for 9 years. And we’ve recently moved to the tiny island of Tromsø (approx. 10Continue reading “Island View”
We just had a storm called “Ole” that blasted the northern part of Norway this past weekend. Ole has left us with lots of snow to shovel, and frosted our buildings from basement to roof. I also want to share a photo of our neighbors’ stairs leading up to their house. They are amazing atContinue reading “Snow-Blasted”
A noonday stroll in -8C, wind 14 mps (Windchill -17C/-3F). Beautiful light, cold fingers and toes!
It was the perfect day to welcome the sun back to the North Cape. I went searching for the sun with two other friends… We waited, and waited for it to peek above the horizon. And it did not disappoint us! Sun, glorious sun! It’s back and we are grateful.
