The world is big…

And I want to have a good look at it before it gets dark. – John Muir The countdown to our polar night season is well underway. In one month, the sun will bid us farewell for 2020.

A Whale of a Time!

What an amazing trip, to yet a new place (for us), on the island we live on. It appears that years ago, a large whale got stuck in this small channel of water and someone has set the bones out to dry. Look how big this rib bone is! I’m in awe. If it weren’tContinue reading “A Whale of a Time!”

The Sky Below Me

This summer I’ve been drawn to small pools of water and the sky’s reflection on their glassy surfaces. It takes my breath away every time.

Discovering new places on the island I love

Skarsvåg is the northern-most fishing village in continental Europe (yes, we live on an island but it’s still considered the top of Europe.) While taking photos yesterday, I had associates with a vacation to Crete. But the arctic temperatures are just a tad cooler at 71 degrees north.

Back to the Basics

When my husband and I were deciding where we should go for our family vacation, we had several ideas:  A warm country, like Spain, where we could get our vitamin D fix, or trip to the States or Southern Norway to visit family and friends.  However, when we assessed what our family really needed weContinue reading “Back to the Basics”
