About ekhaugli

I'm Erica from America living at the top of the world - North Cape, Norway. I run my own gallery, Once Upon a Dream Gallery and Gift Shop, nestled in the picturesque fishing town, Honningsvåg. In 2014 I started and environmental art project, One Step at a Time, concentrating on removing trash from or arctic shoreline.

  1. You can learn a bit about a culture by their relationship to water and the types of bridges that they build. Seeing this photograph makes me want to know more about that towns relationship with water

We live on an island, but this photo is actually taken on a tiny island next to the bigger island. The small island is called Trollholmen and is owned by an elderly man. He’s the one that build the bridge. I’ve heard that before it was built, his wife had to row back and forth to the main island on her way to work, and although it’s not very far, there were some days storms were so rough that she almost didn’t make it across.
