On January 1, 2012, Henrik and Håkon and Andy, their canine traveling companion, embarked on a journey. With skis on foot, they set course from Lindesnes, Norway, headed to 71 degrees north of the equator.
Today, as a dreary rain fell and the sky was a dismal gray, I spotted three figures walking along the highway. A few kilometers before entering the Nordkapp underwater tunnel that takes visitors to the island of Magerøya were two men, clothed in bright rain jackets, and a large, fluffy Greenland’s dog. I knew before I stopped to ask that this was the traveling trio I’d read and written about.

Due to rapidly dwindling snow, they replaced their skis with tennis shoes in Alta, 236 km (150 miles) before their desired destination.
With tired bodies, but still smiling, they plan to arrive at the Nordkapp Plateau on Sunday, May 20th. I hope to be there to capture the moment with my camera and hear more about their four and a half month journey.

As Andy began speaking and nudging Henrik and Håkon with his snout, it was clear he was ready to stop the small talk and get on with the last leg of their journey.
Best wishes to this traveling trio, as each passing step draws them closer to their final destination! (Trelangsnorge.com – check out photos from their trip on their blog.)
What fun you met them. I’m excited to hear if you could met them again at their finish! 🙂
Yes, I met them again on Sunday. It was a privilege to talk with them on their big day. I’ll try to share about it this week.
