Saturday + Bare Ground = Family Hiking Day!

There’s a wonderful Norwegian expression:  “Ut på tur, aldri sur.”  It rhymes in Norwegian but sounds a bit clumsy directly translated – “Out on a hike, never grumpy.”  And it’s true in our family.  It may be an ugly scene as we try to get three small children dressed for the outing.  Honestly, putting three layers of clothing on a 3, 4 and 5 year old looks like a three-ring circus.  BUT once we set our boots on the trail, everyone is happy and ready for an adventure.

The reindeer have arrived on the island!

The upside to working so hard to get the kids ready is that, like it or not, they’re outside for a while. It looks like it was great hike! I bet the kids sleep great after a hike like that! Happy Mother’s Day!

Yes, and we were actually on a six and a half hour trip yesterday. Time flew and they were tuckered out when we came home…rosy cheeks, smoky hair and dirty fingernails. Signs of a super day! And thanks for the Mother’s Day reminder. Almost forgot🙂

Thanks Anna. It was nice to just “BE”… in the fresh air, surrounded by beauty and with the people I love the most. Have a great weekend as well. Klem!

totally a different world up there…. how privileged to grow up there🙂 It’s so nice to see pictures of your family and the beautiful nature. Wished I could come and visit you…..

Wish you could come up and visit as well. Traveling becomes much more complicated and expensive with a family. Remember how easy it was when we just had to take care of ourselves? 🙂 Hope you are all doing well. Big hugs to all of you!

Thank you! I think they’re pretty cute🙂 And we had a great time. They love being outdoors and we don’t have to deal with sibling fights and teasing when we are outdoors. A breath of fresh air for my husband and myself.
